About
Esra Güler is an artist from Istanbul, Turkey.
She lives and works in Seattle, WA.
Esra's action paintings focus on female self-expression, creativity, and transformations. Her quickly painted, improvised characters inhabit their environments as a "theatrical stage" to examine the question of spiritual freedom.
Highly inspired by storytelling and art history, Esra's work merges painting with journal entries, often revealing aspects of diasporic grief through her lived experience, generational trauma trapped in the body, meditations on power dynamics and selfhood.
